Cookie Policy

How AutoStitch uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies.

Last updated: August 3, 2026

This Cookie Policy is a draft for legal review and does not constitute final legal advice. The content is based on a code audit and may change after legal review and before launch.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include browser storage mechanisms like localStorage and sessionStorage. These technologies help websites function properly, remember your preferences, and provide a better user experience.

Essential cookies are necessary for the basic operation of our service. Without these cookies, certain features may not work correctly.

We use Supabase for authentication. Supabase may set authentication and session cookies through its client library to keep you signed in and manage your session. These cookies are essential for account functionality.

When the optional SHARE_ACCESS_PASSWORD feature is enabled, the service may set a signed session cookie to control access to the application. This cookie is only used when the access gate is configured and enabled.

We use Stripe for payment processing, checkout sessions, customer portal, and subscription management. Stripe may set cookies during secure payment flows, depending on your use of these features. These cookies are managed by Stripe according to their own cookie policy.

We use browser localStorage to save your UI preferences. Local storage is a browser-based storage mechanism that persists data on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage data is not automatically sent to servers with each request.

We currently store the following preferences in localStorage:

  • Processing mode preference (e.g., server, browser, auto)
  • Transition duration preset (e.g., off, 0.2s, 0.3s, 0.5s, 0.8s)
  • Caption size preference (e.g., small, medium, large)
  • Default zoom percentage (stored as a number within the supported range)

Clearing your browser localStorage will reset these preferences to their default values.

We use browser sessionStorage to briefly hold in-progress navigation state for the duration of a browser session. Specifically, when you start a video link or upload from the landing page, we store that pending source so it can be carried into the app after you continue (a short-lived handoff that expires automatically), and we cache your recent project history to make returning to a project faster. sessionStorage is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

No analytics or marketing tracking tools were detected in the current code audit. We do not currently set analytics or marketing cookies directly. If we add analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy to describe what we collect and how we use it.

You can manage cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored
  • Delete individual cookies or clear all cookies
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Clear localStorage and sessionStorage data

Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the service from functioning correctly. Clearing localStorage will reset your UI preferences.

TODO: Final cookie retention periods will be defined after legal review. Specific retention periods depend on the type of cookie and the service provider (e.g., Supabase, Stripe).

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
